Our Curriculum

Our curriculum integrates the Montessori and  Competency Based Curriculum (CBC)  curriculum to get the best fit for our children and in order develops enquiring minds and a positive attitude. It aims to create an environment in which children feel secure and confident. The children are stimulated to enjoy learning through a variety of well-planned and carefully structured activities. Develop skills and concepts that will prepare them for primary school/Junior School and give them a sound foundation for future learning.

Activities in this stimulating class include: group welcome, circle songs and music, storytelling, large and small group activities, art and sensory play, as well as science, environment and math exploration. Appropriate transitions between activities allow your child to recognize and become familiar with the structure of the day, and to look forward to the next activity. Focusing on the relationships between physical, social/emotional, language, cognitive, and artistic development, the Olivine School approach teaches children appropriate social skills needed for school and life.

A small teacher-child ratio ensures individualized attention and a caring lap for each child as he or she makes the first transitions to separation and builds trusting relationships with his or her teachers. Our teachers create a keepsake photo book for the entire class so they can remember their experiences with friends through pictures of their days at Olivine.

Every day, we see firsthand how reading expands a child’s horizons. Our belief that all children should have access to books both at school and at home leads us to participate in literacy initiatives.

We believe that high quality comes from the inside out that’s why we are committed to creating exceptional learning environment, involved and engaged teachers, innovative, developmentally-rich curriculum and operational excellence.

Each day we get to interact with many different children and families and learn so many things from the teachings we encounter. Every family has a way of touching our lives and makes us realize that what we do each day is very important. This is a fulfilling feeling to know that we matter to many people.

We have a team that feels the same way. They understand that their role is important and we allow them the flexibility to engage children on their individual developmental level. Because many of our teachers are experienced, they are able to know and fully understand the children that come through their classroom.

The Curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded, individualized educational and developmental experience that is based on integration of the Montessori and KHA principles to provide active learning experiences in the following areas:

  • Practical life- Instills care for self, for others, and for the environment. Activities include many of the tasks children see as part of the daily routine in their home, such as preparing food and washing dishes, along with exercises of grace and courtesy.
  • Sensorial-Builds cognitive skills and ability to order and classify impressions by touching, seeing, smelling, tasting, listening, and exploring the physical properties of a child’s environment.
  • Math/Numeracy– Gives children a solid understanding of basic mathematical principles, prepares them for later abstract reasoning, and helps to develop problem-solving capabilities.
  • Language/Literacy– Includes exploration of verbal and written language, learning the phonics and left to right progression
